Located at the northeast corner of West 16th Avenue and Wesbrook Mall, and bordered by Pacific Spirit Park to the east, Hampton Place was established prior to the creation of UBC’s Land Use Plan, yet remains a vital part of the community with the distinction of being the first UBC Vancouver neighbourhood.


With its quaint, small gardens, and English-style stone and red brickwork, Hampton Place is a small residential neighbourhood consisting of approximately 2,000 residents in 957 residential units located in 11 buildings.


Hampton Place was officially opened in 1989. The area’s original residents were predominately retirees and older adults, but today, there are a growing number of families with children living in Hampton Place, fulfilling its mission to be a multi-family residential community.

Only a 10-minute walk to shopping in Wesbrook Village to the south and with a greenway trail between The Regency and The Stratford leading to Rose Point Elementary School, Hampton Place is a great location for families.


As the oldest neighbourhood of UTown@UBC, Hampton Place is the least expensive, but it doesn’t look so. The neighbourhood has maintained its “posh UK suburb” style, reinforced by British-named condo and townhouse buildings, such as Saint James House, Sandringham, The Balmoral, The Chatham, West Hampstead, The Regency, The Stratford, Wyndham Hall, Pemberley, Thames Court, and The Bristol.
